VCAP6-DTM Deployment Objective 1.5: Collect Diagnostic Information and Locate Log Bundles

Adjust the View Connection Server log levels according to a deployment plan

To collect diagnostic information from View Connection Server, login with administrator account. Go to Start > All Programs > VMware > Set View Connection Server Log level
Server 2012 > Click Start and type Log to bring list of programs choose Set View Connection Server Log level from the list
Click Yes if you see UAC warning message.
Command prompt window will open, with option to choose from:

0 > Resets the logging level to the default value.
1 > Selects a normal level of logging.
2 > Selects a debug level of logging (default).
3 > Selects full logging.

Collect diagnostic information for View Connection Server using the support tool

After choosing desire log level go to Start > All Programs > VMware > Generate View Connection Server Log Bundle.
Server 2012 > Click Start and type Log to bring list of programs choose Generate View Connection Server Log Bundle from the list
The support tool writes the log files to a folder called vdm-sdct on the desktop of the View Connection Server instance.
Those file can be used with request Support from Vmware

Collect diagnostic information for View Agent, Horizon Client, or View Connection Server from the console

To collect logs from View Agent, Connection Server or Horizon Client open PowerShell or Command Prompt and change directory to appropriate depends of View Component

ServerLog

Connection Server

Type command support.bat [loglevel]

To enable advanced logging, specify the loglevels option and enter the numeric value for the logging level when prompted.

0 > Resets the logging level to the default value.
1 > Selects a normal level of logging.
2 > Selects a debug level of logging (default).
3 > Selects full logging.
4 > Selects informational logging for PCoIP (View Agent and Horizon Client
only).
5 > Selects debug logging for PCoIP (View Agent and Horizon Client only).
6 > Selects informational logging for virtual channels (View Agent and
Horizon Client only).
7 > Selects debug logging for virtual channels (View Agent and Horizon Client
only).
8 > Selects trace logging for virtual channels (View Agent and Horizon Client
only).

The script writes the zipped log files to the folder vdm-sdct on the desktop.
